Age of AI
How AI is changing internet marketing
AI search summaries, AI-written content, chat assistants and automation: what has changed.
Search is changing
Search engines now show AI-generated summaries above results. Google explains how its AI features use and link to websites (Google). A Pew Research Center study of US users' browsing in March 2025 found people were less likely to click a result link when an AI summary appeared (Pew Research Center, July 2025).
Content is cheaper to produce – so there's more of it
AI makes it easy to publish lots of text. That makes genuinely original, first-hand, helpful content more valuable, which is what Google says it aims to reward (Google, Google).
Everyday tasks are faster
Drafting, resizing images, summarising feedback and building simple automations take less time, freeing people for strategy, relationships and quality control.
